Symptom

  • Error message: 'Payment Service Provider account no. must not exceed 15 characters' is raised in the "Manage Bank Accounts" app.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the FIORI app.
  2. Select Country: US.
  3. Enter Bank Key: PAYPAL.
  4. Input Merchant ID: 16 characters alphanumeric number.
  5. Attempt to create a house bank account under PAYPAL.

Cause

  • To allow harmonized processing and aggregation of merchant accounts in financials, the Merchant Alias in SAP digital payments is introduced.

Resolution

  • The Merchant Alias must be used as the Bank Account Number of the corresponding BAM account in S/4HANA cloud.
