3699740 - Error "IDCN/508 Date error: Document date XXXX inconsistent with last-assigned date YYYY" occurred in the app Create Billing Documents

You click Save in the app Create Billing Documents. The following error message is displayed: "Sorry, a technical error has occurred. Please try again later. { "message": "HTTP request failed", "statusCode": 500, "responseText": "IDCN/508 Date error: Document date XXXX inconsistent with last-assigned date YYYY" }".

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

1. Open the app Create Billing Documents.
2. Attempt to create a billing document.
3. Click Save. The following error message is displayed: "Sorry, a technical error has occurred. Please try again later. { "message": "HTTP request failed", "statusCode": 500, "responseText": "IDCN/508 Date error: Document date XXXX inconsistent with last-assigned date YYYY" }.

This issue blocks the saving/creation of billing documents when the Billing Date is earlier than the Last-Assigned Date maintained in the configuration activity Assign Number Ranges to Business Places. 

The current design of the "Last-Assigned Date" requires that a new document date must be after the "Last-Assigned Date" to allow posting.

If there's a preference not to have date control based on the business needs, consider configuring the setting at "Assign Document Class to Accounting Document Type and Tax Code" by adjusting the OffNumCntr to "Generate Official Document Number, without date control".
