Symptom

  • Field CharcIsReadOnly of CDS view I_ClfnCharacteristic returns as blank in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
  • A Characteristic has "Not Ready for Input" set in Manage Characteristics app but returns CharcIsReadOnly  as empty when using the CDS view I_ClfnCharacteristic

Cause

The Characteristic involved is a Reference Characteristic

The CDS view does not populate the CharcIsReadOnly field because it is also not filled at the database level (CABN-ATINP).

When using reference characteristics, the 'Not Ready for Input' status in the UI is dynamically derived from the characteristic's definition rather than being pulled from a database field. 

Resolution

System works as Designed.
