  • SAP HANA database upgrade fails with the following error in the hdblcm.log:

  • Disabling SELinux as per KBAs 3390375 and 3439076 does not resolve the error.
  • The /var/log/messages file contains the following error messages:
    Dec 31 20:23:28 hostname systemd[1]: systemd-fsck@dev-mapper-sapvg\x2dlv_usr_sap.service: Job systemd-fsck@dev-mapper-sapvg\x2dlv_usr_sap.service/start failed with result 'dependency'.
    Dec 31 20:23:28 hostname systemd[1]: dev-mapper-sapvg\x2dlv_usr_sap.device: Job dev-mapper-sapvg\x2dlv_usr_sap.device/start failed with result 'timeout'.
  • The sapsysinfo file contains the following error messages:
    Dec 31 20:19:28 hostname SAPSID_00[1686312]: Triggering SAP Service SAPSID_00 start via systemd failed
    Dec 31 20:19:28 hostname systemd[1]: Dependency failed for SAP Instance SAPSID_00.
    Dec 31 20:19:28 hostname systemd[1]: SAPSID_00.service: Job SAPSID_00.service/start failed with result 'dependency'.
  • The sapsysinfo properties of SAPSID_00.service contain the following dependencies:
    After=usr.mount SAP.slice sysinit.target -.mount remote-fs.target systemd-journald.socket usr-sap.mount basic.target time-sync.target

    However, the output of the df command only contains /usr, rather than /usr/sap:

    [root@hostname system]# df -h
    Filesystem                             Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    devtmpfs                               4.0M     0  4.0M   0% /dev
    tmpfs                                  190G     0  190G   0% /dev/shm
    tmpfs                                   51G  162M   51G   1% /run
    /dev/mapper/rootvg-rootlv              7.8G  813M  6.6G  11% /
    /dev/mapper/rootvg-usrlv               9.7G  4.6G  4.7G  50% /usr
