- Import job for Public Dimensioin fails with error: "an unexpected error occurred while trying to update the dimension data" in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
- Error message observed in HAR file:
"exception": "EPM_SERVICE : {\"packageId\":\"sap.fpa.services.resource.dm\",\"objectName\":\"message_dm\",\"messageId\":null,\"args\":[],\"message\":\"An unexpected error occurred while trying to update the dimension data.\",\"previous\":{\"code\":2},\"bUIMessage\":false,\"bWarning\":false,\"status\":500}" - If trying to create a new model with same query as the dimension job, the data can be retrieved successfully
Environment
- SAP Analytic Cloud Enterprise 2025.21.9
Reproducing the Issue
- Log on to SAC Tenant.
- Open the Public Dimension having the issue.
- Go to Data Management page.
- Run one affected job to update the dimension.
=> It fails with error "an unexpected error occurred while trying to update the dimension data"
Cause
The import job failed due to the stack memory running out while validating the import data in the backend HANA of SAC tenant.
Resolution
- Please create a case to component LOD-ANA-ML-DE and we will take a look at the system traces to confirm if it's the stack memory issue or something else.
- If it is indeed due to stack memory issue, we may increase stack memory size values in the backend HANA of SAC tenant.
