Symptom
When creating a new planning proposal in the Supply Planning work center, the system crashes (dump occurs) during processing.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Supply Planning work center -> New Planning Proposal.
- Enter relevant Product, relevant Planning Area ID, Quantity, and set the Available Date in the future.
- Click Release.
- Observe that the calculation progresses to 20% or 50% and then results in a system dump.
Cause
This issue occurs because the Supply Planning work center does not allow quantity splitting.
The Availability Check Scope for the product is set to "Stock and released receipts in horizon."
With this setting, when the requested quantity exceeds the projected stock available at the shipping site, the system automatically performs a quantity split.
Since quantity splitting is not supported in the Supply Planning work center, the system results in a dump during proposal release.
Resolution
- Quantity splitting is not supported in the Supply Planning work center.
- Quantity splitting is supported in the Supply Control work center.
- If quantity splitting is expected, create or release the planning proposal from the Supply Control work center.
