3700559 - error message /SCWM/LC1217 when defining staging area in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

An entry cannot be made in Customizing under "Define Staging Area" for Determining the Staging Area - Inbound.

Error message when trying to define staging area for S910: 

Staging area group S910 in warehouse & isn't in the customer namespace. Message no. /SCWM/LC1217

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

 



Reproducing the Issue

  1. Attempt to make an entry in Customizing under "Define Staging Area" for determining the staging area - inbound.
  2. Observe the error message: "Staging area group S910 in warehouse & isn't in the customer namespace. Message no. /SCWM/LC1217".

Resolution

  1. Review SAP Note 2326112 - Namespace restriction in SSCUI for additional details regarding the allowed values for new keys created by the user.
  2. Ensure that the following values are not used as new keys:
  • S, Q, R, X, P, Y for character fields.
  • 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0 for numeric fields.

Note that SAP standard delivered content is not changeable. Creating the staging area for Storage Type S910 is not necessary in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Warehouse Management (WM). We recommend creating custom settings to meet the specific requirements for defining the staging area.
