3700573 - Incorrect Posting Date for Accruals When Using Flexible Account Start Date Rule (Start Date is Hire Date)

Symptom

  • A time account type has been configured with a Flexible Account Start Date Rule, such that the start date of the time account is set to the user’s hire date. The accrual rule for this time account type has been configured in a way such that the Posting Date is the employee's hire date.
  • There are scenarios where the user’s hire date is the last day of the month, which is causing issues.
  • For example, a user's hire date is 30th Apr 2025. April has 30 days, so the user's hire date also happens to be the last day of the month. As per the accrual rule logic, the posting date for the May accrual should be 30th of May, however, it appears as the 31st of May (last day of the month in the time account accrual posting).

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central > Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure a time account type that uses a Flexible Account Start Date Rule, such that the start date of the time account is set to the user’s hire date.
  2. Hire an employee on 30th of April 2025. Note that the initial accrual posting for the time account type is 30th Apr, 2025.
  3. Observe that the posting for May is 31st May, 2025, and not 30th May, 2025 as expected.
  4. If you hire a user in the middle of the month, the system behaves as expected. E.g. Employee hired on 10th Apr, 2025 receives initial accrual posting on 10th Apr, 2025. Observe that the posting for May is 10th May, 2025 as expected.

Cause

The system is reading the last day of the month of May, rather than the 30th of May due to the fact that the users original hire date is also the last day of the month (for the month of April).

Resolution

  • This is currently expected system behaviour, but the behaviour is planned to be changed with enhancement TIM-53241.
  • Please reach out to your CSM/CEE to track the progress of the enhancement.
