Symptom
- A discrepancy in totals is observed when comparing booked versus unbooked member selections in the planning model within SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
- The issue occurs in both SAC Excel Add-in and SAC Web interface.
- Unbooked members on Account and Account detail dimensions also show different totals in SAC Web interface.
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to the Tenant.
- Open the Story containing Booked and Unbooked Member.
- Observe that SAC displays different totals when comparing booked versus unbooked member selections.
Cause
- In SAP Analytics Cloud, unbooked members are dimension members for which no data has been entered yet, resulting in NULL values.
- When unbooked members are shown without zero suppression, SAC includes these NULL members in aggregations and hierarchy roll-ups, leading to differences in totals compared to booked-only selections.
- This is expected behavior.
Resolution
- Enable zero suppression (hide zero/null values) at the row/column level from the right-side builder panel within SAC.
- Verify that unbooked members are excluded, and the totals match the booked selection.
