3702104 - TO_DATE function Story Calculations does not accept timestamp or datetime values as input in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

The TO_DATE function in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Story Calculations does not accept timestamp or datetime values as input. Only string parameters are supported.

This behavior is due to a design limitation in the SAC Story Calculation.

• Starting from SAC QRC2 2025 (wave 2025.08), SAC Story Calculations officially support the TO_DATE function—but the limitation on accepted input types still applies.
• The Calculation Editor Hint List has not yet been updated to reflect this difference, which may lead to confusion because the Hint List shown in SAC and SuccessFactors appears identical.

Resolution: 

• Beginning with SAC wave 2025.09, the Hint List documentation in the SAC Calculation Editor will be updated to correctly show that TO_DATE in Story Calculations only accepts string inputs.
