3702121 - Unable to Start Secondary or DR Site Due to "FAIL: process hdbdaemon HDB Daemon not running"

After an ungraceful shutdown of the SAP HANA DB secondary or DR site, the next startup attempt (e.g., HDB start) fails with the following error: 

FAIL: process hdbdaemon HDB Daemon not running ERROR: instance xx failed. Check the HANA traces and make sure that ports 5xx13 and 5xx14 are not occupied by any process other than the expected process.

In the nameserver trace, the following error messages are observed:
