3702954 - New feature E-invoice incl. PDF

Symptom

With release 2511, we introduced a new feature for the E‑Invoicing scenario for corporate accounts. Starting with release 2602, this feature will also be available for private accounts.

Reproducing the Issue

Go to the Accounts work center.
In the Accounts view, after editing a record and navigating to the Collaboration tab.
Select the sub tab communication.
For customer invoice-credit memo notice a new field labeled “E‑invoice incl. PDF.”

Cause

SAP developed this new feature in response to consistently high customer demand.

This may appear contradictory to the E‑Invoice concept, since the “E” stands for “electronic invoice.” Historically, the functionality was created years ago to deliver a transformed electronic invoice to authorities. At that time, only a single attachment was permitted, and some authorities still enforce this rule today, blocking any email that contains more than one attachment.

This context is important.

During our partner and customer summits, we received numerous requests to introduce an optional capability that would allow a PDF version of the invoice to be attached in addition to the XSLT file. We recognized that while XML is machine-readable, it is not easily readable for humans. For this reason, the new functionality is fully optional and can be enabled only when needed.

When the feature is activated, the outgoing email will contain two attachments:

The XSLT file
The customer invoice as a PDF

Use the new function as of your customer desire
