Symptom
- The Average function used in Story Calculated Measure does not return correct average rating for 360 Forms.
- The average calculation is incorrect when the same rating or score is entered by multiple participants in the same category. E.g. multiple participants provided a score of '4'
- The 360 template is set to anonymous, and participant details are hidden in the report after reviews are completed.
- Participant User ID was added as a Dimension Context in the calculated measure
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Story Reporting
- Story Designer - Story & Formatting
Reproducing the Issue
- Add a Calculated Measure to a Chart to get Average rating of scores (using Dimension to Measure)
- Observe the result returned for each data point
- In a separate widget display the rows or the source data. Compare your manual calculation of the average with the result of the chart
- Result: average value displayed in the widget is incorrect
Cause
- The issue arises due to the aggregation behavior of the Story report.
- In order for the Chart to calculate the Average correctly, you need to select a unique identifier in the Dimension Context section of the Calculated Measure.
- Participant User ID data is hidden and therefore appears blank or '-', so it cannot be used as a unique identifier.
Resolution
Find a field or column that can be used as a unique identifier for Participant Rating. In this case Participant Content ID has unique values per row.
- Edit the calculated measure used to average the rating
- Include or select 'Participant Content ID' in the Dimension Context
- Save the calculation changes.
- Verify that the chart now shows the correct average
If there is any other field that can be used as an identifier, you can select that, but for this particular example, the Content ID already works to get the correct and expected average value.
