3703216 - SAP HANA system hang and connection timeouts without crash caused by sustained memory pressure (overload scenario)

Symptom

In productive SAP S/4HANA systems, users report that the system becomes unresponsive for several minutes.
Typical observations include:

  • SAP GUI does not open or freezes
  • Connection to HANA Studio or database cannot be established
  • Short-term system “hang” without service crash or restart
  • Application dumps such as DBSQL_CONNECTION_ERROR
  • HANA trace messages like:
    • Broken pipe
    • Connect timeout expired
    • SSL exception during send/receive
    • reading failed with timeout

Indexserver and nameserver processes remain running.
Runtime dumps and automated analyzers do not report fatal issues such as OOM, crashes, deadlocks, or kernel panics.
