3703367 - Project Task ID Sequence Issue When Copying From Existing Project

Copy an existing project to create a new one, see the project task IDs in the new project do not start sequentially (e.g., 01, 02). Instead, they start with different numbers (e.g., 50, 51).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Project Management work center.
2. Go to the Projects view.
3. Click on "New Project".
4. Enter the existing project Id.
5. Click on "Finish".
6. The task IDs start with non-sequential numbers (e.g., 50, 51).

 The project contains task IDs starting with 50 or 51, the system generates the new project’s task IDs with the same prefixes during the copy process.

Copied project - The system assigns task IDs based on the prefix and sequence already used in the system. If other projects have tasks with the same prefix, the next available number in that sequence is used, resulting in non-sequential IDs for the new project.

New project - If the copied project task ID starts with 50 or 51, then the new project created by copying this existing project should also have task IDs starting with 50 or 51.

If the project’s task IDs start with 01 or 02 without any sequential prefix, the new project created from it will also have task IDs starting with 01 or 02. Likewise, if the source project’s task IDs begin with 50 or 51, the copied project will generate task IDs starting with 50 or 51, even when no prefix is defined.
