Symptom
- Grayed-out fields (such as Job Information, Personal Information, Biographical Information) prevent the completion of New Hire Data for future employees/onboardees.
- Users are unable to edit required fields during New Hire Data.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Attempt to complete New Hire Data for a new hire.
- Observe that one or more mandatory fields are grayed out and cannot be edited.
Cause
The user is missing 'Edit' permissions for Employee Data sections such as Biographical Information and Job Information, or other required fields within New Hire Data.
Resolution
- Identify the permission role that requires "Edit" access (e.g., "Onboarding Managers" or "Hiring Managers").
- Navigate to "Manage Permission Roles".
- Search for the identified permission role and click Edit.
- Within the Edit Role section, find Add Permissions.
- If a section is grayed out, for example, Biographical Information, navigate to Employee Data > Biographical Information and select the checkbox to enable this permission. Repeat this process for all other necessary fields (e.g., Job Information, Personal Information, Job Relationships).
- Save the changes and complete New Hire Data.
