3703587 - hdblcm register_rename_system fails with “Restoring PSE failed” or “Wrong backup encryption passphrase”

Symptom

During a SAP HANA system rename using:

hdblcm --action=register_rename_system

the process fails during the Local Secure Store (LSS) / PSE phase with errors such as:

  • Renaming SAP HANA instance failed
  • Restoring PSE failed
  • Wrong backup encryption passphrase
  • Premature shutdown of Local Secure Store
  • hdbnsutil -convertTopology terminates with an error

The failure occurs although no encryption passphrase was changed or configured by the customer.
