3703890 - Difference between Generic Audit and Audit Logging

Symptom

  • Despite setting the property auditing.enabled=false, audit-related messages continue to appear in application logs (for example, in OpenSearch) originating from the logger de.hybris.platform.audit.actions.impl.Slf4jAuditableActionHandler.
  • Confusion arises between two separate mechanisms:
    • Generic Audit (database change log stored in audit tables ending with the SN suffix).
    • Audit Logging (runtime audit events emitted via Log4j/SLF4J to the logging system).
