Symptom
-
In SAC Story (live connection to S/4HANA analytical query), selecting a Variable Set that includes Plan Category is ignored/overridden at runtime; SAC appears to default back to another Plan Category.
-
Data Analyzer with the same live query and variables works as expected.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)
Reproducing the Issue
- Log on to SAC.
- Open story.
- Set variable values.
- Filter on specific Cost Center.
- Notice that compared to the S/4HANA side with the same selection, this value differs.
Cause
- The data difference occurs because the table widget in your story is configured to use its own widget-level variable, which overrides the story-level variable.
- When you set or change the story-level variable, it does not apply to this particular table widget -> the widget continues to use its locally defined variable value, which differs from the one set at story level.
Resolution
To align the table widget with your story-level variable, switch its variable setting from "Set Table Variables" to "Use Story Variables". Once this change is made, any story-level variable updates will apply to the table widget as well, and the data will be consistent.
Steps:
- In your story, select the affected table widget.
- Open the table's prompt/variable dialog (via Edit Table Prompts).
- Switch from Set Table Variables to Use Story Variables.
- Save your changes and verify the data now reflects the story-level variable value.
