Symptom
- Files uploaded to File Management / Additional Files can be referenced and displayed through links in Quote tables or templates, but some file types cannot be downloaded successfully.
- The issue may occur for specific file extensions such as:
-
- .cfr
- .text
- Other custom or legacy file formats
- Even though:
- The file upload succeeds
- The generated URL is valid
- The hyperlink is rendered correctly
the file may fail to download or open correctly.
Environment
SAP CPQ
Reproducing the Issue
- Upload files with various extensions to File Management / Additional Files.
- Store the generated file URLs in a Quote table or template.
- Render the links using HTML anchor tags.
- Attempt to download the uploaded files through the generated links.
- Observe that supported file types download successfully, while unsupported extensions may fail to download or open.
Cause
- SAP CPQ File Management / Content Documents supports only a predefined set of allowed file extensions for managed and downloadable files.
- Files with unsupported or non-whitelisted extensions are not guaranteed to function correctly for download or preview operations, even if the upload itself succeeds.
Resolution
Verify that the uploaded file extension is supported by SAP CPQ File Management / Content Documents.
Supported file extensions include:
- .doc
- .docx
- .xls
- .xlsx
- .jpg
- .jpeg
- .gif
- .png
- .zip
- .txt
Files with unsupported extensions (for example, .cfr, .text, or other custom/legacy formats) may not be downloadable through generated file links.
As this behavior is system-defined, no additional configuration is available to enable unsupported file extensions for download through File Management / Additional Files.
