3708221 - Error message when exporting Org Charts with too many nodes - SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Symptom

Error message: "The amount of data requested was too big to process by your browser. You can try to reduce the export size, or in some cases you can use a different browser. Please contact your System Administrator." displayed when exporting Org Charts in PDF format.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
    • Company Structure Overview

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Make sure you have too many nodes, then expand the view in the Company Structure Overview.
  2. Attempt to export the data as a PDF.
  3. Observe the error message indicating that the data requested was too large to process by the browser.

Cause

Limitation with browser processing capacity when exporting data with too many nodes in the Org Charts.

Resolution

There are some alternatives, such as:

  1. Reduce the number of nodes in the view before exporting the data as PDF format.
  2. Export the data in JPG format, as this format does not encounter the same limitation.
  3. Submit an Enhancement Idea as per SAP Knowledge Base Article below.
