3708539 - Journal Entry copied from Verify General Journal Entries app does not proceed to approval workflow - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

In the "Verify General Journal Entries - For Requester" app, when a posted journal entry is copied, it cannot be submitted. The submit function is only available when copying a journal entry that has not been posted, such as those with a status of "Submitted" or "Rejected." Customer want to know the reason.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Copy a journal entry from the verify general journal entries module.
  2. Observe that the journal entry does not proceed to the approval stage, but posted directly.

Cause

The system behaves like this when users select a posted journal entry and copy it:

  • If the user has the Submit authorization only, the Submit button displays in the app.
  • If the user is authorized to post, the Post button displays while the Submit button is hidden.

Therefore, this is a authorization related issue.

Resolution

See the same in SAP Help Portal: Verify General Journal Entries - For Requester

"As a requester (for example, an accountant), with the Verify General Journal Entries - For Requester app, you can create, display, copy, and edit a journal entry. Afterward, you can submit it for verification or post it directly, depending on your authorization."
