Symptom
- Calculated goal or competency rating is placed incorrectly in the 9-box grid in the performance form.
- This article explains the rounding logic of calculated rating in the 9 box grid.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Configure calculated ratings for goal or competency in the Objective Competency summary section on form.
- Notice that in the 9 box grid, when the calculated rating is 1.6, it is rounded to 1 while 2.4 is rounded to 3. The rounding logic looks weird.
Resolution
This is system behavior.
The rating scale values range from 1 to 3 for the 9-box grid. The minimum value of 1 represents the left boundary, while the maximum value of 3 represents the right boundary.
Then: (3-1)/3 = 0.66...7 , meaning that each box contains approximately 0.66, which means, the first column covers values from 1 to 1.66, the second column spans 1.66 to 2.32, and the third column includes values from 2.32 to 3.
As a result, when the calculated rating is 1.6, the blue dot is positioned in the first row; when the calculated rating is 2.4, the blue dot is positioned in the third row.
