Symptom
- The e-step is not triggered for candidates during the onboarding process.
- Error messages observed during document generation include:

Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Onboarding
- Proxy as BPE admin > Click on the Business Process Tile
- View Document flow error
- HCP Response Content: {"error":{"code":"1403","message":"Internal error. Please contact the SAP operations team."
Cause
- A specific field in the document template was incorrectly configured as an e-signature type field.
- The e-signature type field does not accept string values, causing a mismatch during document generation.
- The mapped data was sent as a string to the e-signature field, resulting in the error.
Resolution
- Identify the field in the document template that is incorrectly configured as an e-signature type field.
- Change the field type to String or delete and recreate the field to ensure correctness.
- Re-upload the updated document template.
- Restart the To-Do activity for the candidate.
- If the issue persists, restart the onboarding process.
