3712401 - Barcode Scanner Does Not Find Existing Equipment During Search (Advanced Configuration)

Symptom

You want to use the “Search for Equipment Records Using Scanner” feature to scan a barcode (for example, a QR code) and automatically find and open an existing Equipment record in the system. You are using the Advanced Configuration option, which relies on a ScreenConfiguration, to define how the scanned barcode should be interpreted, for example:

  • Parsing a barcode string to extract equipment identifiers
  • Using key–value pairs within the barcode to match equipment fields
  • Controlling which equipment fields are used during the search

However, when scanning the barcode:

  • The barcode is scanned successfully
  • But the existing Equipment record is not automatically found or opened, even though the equipment exists in the system

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
