3712452 - Understanding Scheduled Maintenance Activities in SAP Cloud for Customer (C4C)

Symptom

  • Requests on information on what occurs during scheduled maintenance activities in SAP C4C.
  • Queries on system availability, background jobs, and user access during maintenance windows.
  • Clarification required on whether backend or scheduled are stopped during maintenance

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Cause

Scheduled maintenance activities are periodically performed by SAP to ensure system stability, security, and performance.

Resolution

  1. All Maintenance activities are performed during CMP (Contractual Maintenance Period). These activities may include Hot fixing Deployment, Hardware Maintenance, Network changes, technical improvements, infrastructure updates, and security enhancements etc.
  2. Release upgrades are performed during a separate upgrade window, which is different from CMP. This is communicated 2-3 weeks before in every quarter.
  3. These activities performed can be offline or online. If an activity is offline, the system will not be accessible and background jobs will be stopped. Upgrade, hot fixing, and hardware maintenance are always offline activities.
  4. It is recommended to avoid critical business activities during the scheduled maintenance window to prevent inconsistencies.
  5. It is not possible to change CMP date/time for Multi-Customer systems. This feature is only available for Private systems.
  6. Details and dates can be found in Service Control Center -> Maintenance Schedule List.
