3712534 - [OBX|OBD] Signature Type (AES/SES/QES) for SAP E-Signature in Onboarding

Symptom

In Onboarding, what's the type of SAP embedded e-signature?

  • Simple Electronic Signature (SES)
  • Advanced Electronic Signature (AES)
  • Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)

Environment

SAP Signature Management by Docusign
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Resolution

Native method e-signature will fall under SES category. It will not belong to AES and QES.

  • A Simple Electronic Signature (SES) method involves using a basic electronic representation of a signature for low-risk transactions. This includes actions like typing a name, inserting a scanned image of a signature, or clicking "I Agree" on a web form).
  • An Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) - is created using electronic signature creation data (a private key) that the signatory can, with a high level of confidence, use under his sole control.
  • A Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) - is created by a qualified electronic signature creation device (QESCD) (Article 22, eIDAS). For example, a physical smartcard held by the signer with an associated pin code or hardware security module operated remotely by a qualified trust service provider (QTSP) in the cloud).

NOTE: SAP SuccessFactors eSignature only supports simple e-Signature definition and is recommended for basic signing. For advanced use cases, we recommend using DoCusign. DocuSign is our recommended e-signature solution (also for Onboarding 1.0 since 2015) for customers looking to digitize the onboarding process in a convenient and secure way.
