Symptom
When configuring an import job in the Data Management workspace of an acquired model using the datasource icon (the import settings shortcut), a user sets the import method to "Clean and replace a subset of data" and defines multiple Replacement Scope Definitions using + Add Scope. After saving and refreshing the page, the last Replacement Scope Definition is missing when the import settings are reopened via the same datasource icon.
No error or warning is displayed during or after the save action.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.21.11
Reproducing the Issue
- Open an acquired model and navigate to the Data Management workspace.
- Select an import job and open its settings via the datasource icon (the connection/source shortcut icon next to the job name).
- Set the import method to "Clean and replace a subset of data".
- Add 3 or more Replacement Scope Definitions using + Add Scope.
- Click Save.
- Refresh the page.
- Reopen the import settings via the datasource icon.
Result: The last Replacement Scope Definition that was added is missing.
Expected Result: All defined Replacement Scope Definitions are retained.
Cause
This is a by-design behavioral limitation of the datasource icon shortcut path in the Data Management workspace.
When using the import settings — including Replacement Scope Definitions for "Clean and replace a subset of data" — are modified via the datasource icon, the changes are held in a temporary session state. They are only fully committed and persisted when the import job is actually executed from that same dialog. If the user saves and exits without running the job, the last scope definition entry is not written to the model's stored import job configuration.
This is not the case when settings are configured via the full import mapping path: More options (3 dots) → Edit → Import Settings
When this full edit path is used and saved, the Replacement Scope Definitions are persisted correctly regardless of whether the job is subsequently run.
The underlying difference is that the full edit path triggers a complete write of the job configuration on save, while the datasource icon shortcut only persists configuration changes as part of a run operation.
Resolution
Use the full import mapping path to configure and save Replacement Scope Definitions:
- In the Data Management workspace, locate the import job.
- Select More options (three-dot menu) → Edit → Import Settings.
- Set the import method to "Clean and replace a subset of data".
- Define all required Replacement Scope Definitions using + Add Scope.
- Click Save.
All scope definitions will be correctly persisted and visible upon reopening.
Do not use the datasource icon shortcut to define or modify Replacement Scope Definitions unless you intend to run the import job immediately in the same session. Changes made only via the datasource icon will only be persisted if the job is run before the session ends.
