Symptom

Unable to add or modify business catalogs in any derived business role.
The "Add" button is greyed out when attempting to edit business role.

Environment

SAP Marketing Cloud Edition

Reproducing the Issue

Logon to your SAP Marketing Cloud tenant.
Go to Maintain Business Roles App.
Open a derived business role.
Click Edit on top and you observe that the "Add" button is greyed out.

Cause

Standard system design.

Resolution

• SAP‑delivered business roles can be modified for assignment to business users during the initial system setup. These roles are maintained exclusively by SAP.

• To allow adjustments based on business requirements, create custom business roles using the available SAP templates.

• Custom business roles can be changed only at the level of the Leading Business Role. Any Derived Business Role inherits its structure from the leading role and cannot be modified directly.

• Business roles should be defined and maintained in a development system and subsequently transported to the production system, rather than being changed locally in production.
