Resolution
With the Full Profile in Latest People Profile, there are additional and required configurations needed for a custom MDF object to be displayed:
- Effective Dating of custom MDF object must be None, Basic or Multiple Changes Per Day (MCPD).
- The custom MDF object must be defined as a parent object. Child objects, with Effective Dating set to From Parent, will only appear on the Latest People Profile when they are added in conjunction with their parent object.
Note: A parent object is supported with a maximum of two levels of composite child objects, structured as follows: Parent → Level 1 Child → Level 2 Child. - Custom MDF object must be marked as Yes for the Secured field in the object definition in Configure Object Definitions page and permission must be granted to users in Manage Permission Roles.
- A Role-Based Permission (RBP) subject user field must be defined on the object definition, referencing a field that utilizes the User data type.
Starting with the 1H 2026 release, each custom MDF card includes a new setting — Enable the Latest Viewing, Editing, and History UI on Full Profile (With Non-Configurable UI) — that controls whether the card uses the latest People Profile experience or the Configurable UI:
The behavior depends on whether the setting is enabled or disabled:
- Disabled (typically the default for existing custom MDF cards created prior to the 1H 2026 release): The Configuration UI created in Manage Configuration UI must be added to the Default Screen field on the Configure Object Definitions page in order for the custom MDF card to be displayed in the latest People Profile.
- Enabled: The full latest People Profile experience is applied to the custom MDF card, and the Configuration UI is not used for profile views. Adding a Configuration UI to the Default Screen field on the Configure Object Definitions page is optional and will only take effect for Manage Data and Workflow Details pages that continue to use the Configurable UI.
Additional details and updates of MDF related changes to Latest People Profile and card changes on the Latest People Profile can be found in MDF Configurations for Latest People Profile.
Some of the Manage Configuration UI features are no longer supported in the Latest People Profile. For more information about the exceptions and the recommended actions for each feature, see Features Supported by Configuration UI in the Latest People Profile and Their Status.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Question: Which tool is used to add and manage custom MDF object cards on Latest People Profile?
Answer: Configure Latest People Profile tool. For more information, see Configuring the Latest People Profile.
Question: How can I add a custom MDF object card to Latest People Profile?
Answer: For details and prerequisites to add a custom MDF object card, see Creating and Adding a Custom MDF Information Card to a Category.
Question: I am trying to add a new custom MDF object card to the Latest People Profile, but the Configuration UI (UI) that I created for this object does not appear in the dropdown when adding a card. What should I check?
Answer: For a custom MDF object card to be displayed in the Latest People Profile, you should select the object name from the dropdown when adding the card. For more information, see MDF Configurations for Latest People Profile and Creating and Adding a Custom MDF Information Card to a Category.
Question: I am trying to add a custom MDF object card within a category in the Latest People Profile, but this custom MDF object does not appear in the dropdown when adding a card. What should I check?
Answer: First, confirm that all required configurations have been completed. If the object still does not appear, check whether the same custom MDF object has already been added to another category — only one card can be created per object definition, so an object used in an existing card will not be available to add again. For more information, see MDF Configurations for Latest People Profile.
Question: Can I move a custom MDF object card between categories or reorder the cards within a category?
Answer: Yes. You can move cards between categories, reorder cards within a category, and reorder categories. For more information, see Configuring Layout for Full Profile.
Question: Users have no permission to view the custom MDF object cards in a category, but they still see the category as an empty category. Can I hide the entire category instead of showing an empty category?
Answer: Yes. You can control category visibility using RBP. When you enable the Role-Based Permissions setting, or change the access control from Everyone to Role-Based Permissions, a permission for the category is automatically added to the following permission list in the Manage Permission Roles tool: User Permissions > Employee Views > People Profile Categories. After restricting a category with RBP, you must configure the category permission in the Manage Permission Roles tools.
Note: This access control hides the category itself but does not affect permissions on the individual custom MDF objects within it.
For more information, see Managing Access Control for Full Profile Categories.
Question: A user cannot see a Category on the Employee Profile page, but the same Category is visible on the Configure Latest People Profile page. What should I check?
Answer: In Configure Latest People Profile, open the affected Category and check its Access Control setting. If it is set to Role-Based Permissions, verify that the user has been granted the appropriate permission to view it. If it is set to Everyone, the Category should be visible to all users. For more information, see Managing Access Control for Full Profile Categories.
Question: How do I remove a custom MDF object card from Latest People Profile?
Answer: You can remove / delete a custom MDF object card in Configure Latest People Profile tool. For more information, see Deleting a Custom Card or Custom Category.
Question: How many cards are allowed for custom MDF objects per category?
Answer: Up to 30 cards are allowed per category. When adding cards through migration, all valid blocks within a section are automatically migrated as cards into a category. However, once migration is complete, no additional cards can be manually added if the category already contains more than 30. For more information, see Configuring Categories and Cards in Full Profile.
Question: Can I audit category changes such as renames or who configured them?
Answer: Yes. Category-level audit details (for actions such as adding, renaming, reordering categories, and changing which target roles can access a category) are shown inside each category in the Configure Latest People Profile tool. The audit panel displays “Last configured by” and the date of the change.
What is not included: card-level actions (adding, deleting or reordering individual cards) are not recorded in the category-level audit.
When you see it: audit information appears automatically as soon as changes are saved and is hidden when no audit data exists.
For more information, see Audit Tracking for Configuring Full Profile Categories.
Question: Can I use deep links to a category or a specific custom MDF object card?
Answer: Yes. For more information, see Deep Links to Full Profile Categories and Cards and Comparison of MDF Behavior in Legacy and Latest People Profile.
Question: Can I include hyperlinks on a custom MDF object card?
Answer: Static links are supported and work in both the Configurable UI and card-level configurations. If the card‑level configuration is disabled, dynamic links work through the Configurable UI on the web version in both the detailed and summary views. However on SAP SuccessFactors Mobile, dynamic links work only in the detailed view and not in the summary view. For more information, see Comparison of MDF Behavior in Legacy and Latest People Profile.
Question: Can I add more than one card for a single custom MDF object as was possible in Legacy People Profile?
Answer: No. Each custom MDF object can only be added once. Any object already added to the Latest People Profile will no longer appear in the list of available objects when you add new cards. For more information, see Comparison of MDF Behavior in Legacy and Latest People Profile.
Question: How can I see data that is pending workflow in a custom MDF object card?
Answer: Two new permissions control access to pending workflow items in the Latest People Profile:
View Pending Approvals: lets a user see which MDF object cards have items pending approval.
Review Pending Approvals: lets a user open those pending items and perform review actions (for example, approve or reject).
With these permissions granted, a small triangle icon appears on a custom MDF object card’s summary when that object has one or more items pending workflow approval.
For more information, see MDF Configurations for Latest People Profile.
Question: After enabling the Latest People Profile, why does the card display differently than the Legacy People Profile?
Answer: When the Latest People Profile is enabled, the summary card is rendered based on the MDF object configuration. For more information, see MDF Card Behavior Based on Object Configurations in the Latest People Profile and Comparison of MDF Behavior in Legacy and Latest People Profile.
Question: Starting with the 1H 2026 release, SAP SuccessFactors recommends keeping the Enable the Latest Viewing, Editing, and History UI on Full Profile (With Non-Configurable UI) configuration enabled for the new MDF cards. However, since there is no UI — and consequently no UI rule — how can a field be set as required or optional, or hidden or shown, using a rule?
Answer: Starting with the 1H 2026 release, SAP SuccessFactors introduces Rules for Metadata of MDF Objects, which allow you to define and control UI behavior dynamically. These rules enable you to adjust the Visibility and Required attributes for fields and associations based on specific conditions. At this time, these rules are supported only in the Re-imagined UI, which is currently limited to the Latest People Profile. For more information, see Configuring Rules for Metadata of MDF Objects.
