3714965 - error message "Bill of material is not valid" (message no. BOM254) encountered when changing component quantity with future valid date change number in app Maintain bill of material(version 2) - SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition

When change component quantity with change number(valid date is in future) in app Maintain bill of material(version 2), error  "Bill of material is not valid" with message no. Message no. BOM254 happened.

SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition

1. Create a BOM with a valid-from date of 31.03.2026 without using a change number in app version 2.
2. Include three components in the BOM, each with the same valid-from date of 31.03.2026.
3. Create a change number in the "Manage Change Masters" app with a valid-from date of 14.04.2026.
4. Open the BOM in app Maintain bill of material(version 2) and click the "Edit" button.
5. Enter the change number and switch to edit mode.
6. Change the quantity of item 0010 in the BOM from 1PC to 2PC.
7. Press "Save".
8. Observe the error message: "of material is not valid" with message no. BOM254.

It is known issue.

The issue will be fixed in CE2602.2. Before that, it is suggested to use app Maintain bill of material.
