3715494 - Advance Indicator in Manage Purchasing Info Records app

Symptom

  • When attempting to open an Purchasing Info Records in the app "Manage Purchasing Info Records", users are automatically redirected to the GUI App "Purchasing Info Record - Advance".
  • In the "Manage Purchasing Info Records" app, some purchasing info records are displayed directly within the app and can be edited there, while others open in the "Purchasing Info Record – Advanced" (WEBGUI) app.

Image/Data is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the "Manage Purchasing Info Records" app and Press 'GO'.
  2. The 2 example Purchasing Info Records are displayed as below:

  3. Select an Purchasing Info Record (PIR) with advance indicator and click on it to view details.
  4. Observe automatic redirection to the GUI App "Purchasing Info Record - Advance" WEBGUI based app.
  5. Then again try to open Purchasing info record that do not has advance indicator and open it, this time system will not redirect to WEBGUI advance app and will open PIR in same app.

Cause

  • The introduction of the "advance indicator" functionality in the "Manage Purchasing Info Records" app during the release upgrade 2602 caused certain info records to redirect to the "Purchasing Info Records - advance app".
  • When a Purchasing Info Record is selected in the Manage Purchasing Info Records app, the system performs several checks on fields.
    • If all field checks pass, the Purchasing Info Record is displayed and can be edited directly in the app.
    • If any field check fails, the record is opened in the Advanced (WEBGUI) application.

This occurs because the Fiori app does not cover all features of the traditional backend transactions (such as ME12/ME13). The complexity of the backend GUI transactions has been intentionally simplified in the app.

In general, if a field is not available in the app but is populated in the Purchasing Info Record, the document will open in the WEBGUI app, where those fields can be processed if needed.

Resolution

  • This is standard system behavior. The Fiori app does not support all features available in the traditional backend transactions (such as ME12/ME13).
  • If a field is populated in the PIR but not supported in the app, the system will redirect it to the Advanced (WEBGUI) app, where it can be processed accordingly.
