3715631 - Error during HDI container import due to missing metadata.json file in SAP HANA Database Explorer

Symptom

An issue occurs when attempting to import an exported HDI container into a different, empty HDI container located in another subaccount using SAP HANA Database Explorer within the SAP BTP Cloud environment. The error indicates that the metadata.json file is missing from the exported tar archive, although the file is present and appears valid upon local inspection.

  • The import process fails with the error message: SQL Error: Import target table "DBADMIN".".SAP.HRTT.ImportHDI.<date>.<time>.<instance info>" does not contain a valid exported container. File "metadata.json" is at least missing.
