3715813 - SAP HANA recovery stops with “Found service neither active nor starting for recovery” although backups and Backint operations are successful

During an SAP HANA database recovery, the recovery procedure stops although the backup validation and Backint restore operations complete successfully.

The recovery may stop with an error similar to:

Found service neither active nor starting for recovery

Observed behavior:

• Backint INQUIRE and RESTORE operations return exit code 0
• backup.log and backint.log do not report errors
• Full and incremental backup chain is available and resolved
• Metadata recovery (backup catalog, topology, SSFS) finishes successfully
• The nameserver remains stable during recovery

However, the database does not reach the operational (open) state.

In the nameserver trace, one database service (for example xsengine) remains in state:

RecoveryPrepared

and does not transition to starting or active.
