3716161 - SAP HANA System Replication secondary database cannot start standalone – 'FAIL: process hdbindexserver not running'

Symptom

After stopping SAP HANA system replication, the secondary (DR) database is started independently for maintenance, testing, or patching activities.

The database does not start and the following error is observed:

FAIL: process hdbindexserver not running

The indexserver does not start although no obvious crash is visible.

The database starts successfully again as soon as system replication is re-enabled.
