Symptom
- A tenant database backup in SAP HANA fails.
- The following error is reported in the backup log or SQL output:
Could not fetch backup catalogtransaction rolled back by an internal error: Allocation failedglobal allocation limit configured in [memorymanager] global_allocation_limit reached
- The SystemDB backup may complete successfully while the tenant database backup fails.
- The issue can appear after a restart, configuration change, or operating system maintenance, although the system is otherwise operational.
- Increasing the
global_allocation_limitparameter or system memory does not permanently resolve the problem.
