3717524 - Production System Impact During Test Data Refresh (TDR)

Symptom

Potential impact on the Production (P) tenant when a Test Data Refresh (TDR) from Production to Test is scheduled or executed.

Typical questions include:

  • Will Production experience downtime?

  • Will transports be blocked or affected?

  • Will business users face performance degradation?

  • Will any configuration or transactional data in Production change?

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

TDR copies a snapshot of Production data into the Test tenant but does not modify the Production tenant itself.

Resolution

There is no downtime, no transport impact, and no measurable functional or performance impact on the Production tenant during a Test Data Refresh in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Test Data Refresh overwrites only the Test tenant data; customers should inform Test users about data replacement and adjust any Test integrations if needed, while Production operations continue normally without impact.
