3724580 - Alternative-based confirmation (aATP) plant substitution issue in S/4Hana Cloud Public Edition

• The alternative-based confirmation (aATP) component is not determining the substitution plant for inline substitution on the order line.
• The intent is to switch plant from A to plant B and vice versa for specific distribution channel when inventory is unavailable in the original plant

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Setup the Alternative-Based Confirmation (ABC) scenario customization according to business need as listed in the KBA 3381688 - FAQ: Alternative based Confirmation (ABC) with aATP - S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition.
2. Create a Sales Order from the "Create Sales Orders" (VA01) application.
3. Navigate to that Sales Order in "Change Sales Order" (VA02) application.
4. Enter sales document type.
5. Enter Sold-to-Party.
6. Enter Material.
7. Request quantity under "All items" tab and trigger the Check Availability button.
8. Observe the results in RACR (Review Availability Check Results) screen and note that the substitution from original plant to the substitute plant has not taken place.

• While customizing the settings to configure ABC scenario, the Characteristic Value Determination setting in the "Configure Alternative Control" app was set to "Plant," preventing the system from fetching the required substitution details.
• In "Manage Characteristic Catalog", the Characteristic Name of "Plant" setting is "STORE". This data is not fetched from the system as it has null value.
• The image below shows the difference in Characteristic Name between "Plant" and "Plant (Own or External)".
  
  

To make the product substitution to work, the following steps are recommended:

1. Open the "Configure Alternative Control" application.
2. Navigate to the Characteristic Value Determination settings.
3. Change the setting from "Plant" to "Plant (external or Own)".
4. Save the changes.
5. Verify the substitution functionality by testing the setup with the provided test data and steps to reproduce the issue.
