3724933 - Performance of REORG DEFRAG command

Symptom

  • REORG DEFRAG commands on very large tables (>100GB) take excessive time to complete (ie: often exceeding 7 hours)
  • For tables significantly larger, the execution frequently fail to complete within a single execution window. The "with resume" clause has to be used.
  • Performance optimization of the REORG DEFRAG utility is needed.
