3725046 - Candidate Search Background Element Picklists Not Displaying Values – Recruiting Management

• When adding a Background Element picklist as a filter in Recruiting > Candidates > Add Filter > Background, the dropdown opens but no values appear. The same picklist works as expected in the Candidate Profile, but not in the Candidate Search page.

• When selecting a Background Element picklist filter, some or all entries appear as blank lines, with no visible labels. The issue may occur in one or multiple languages.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

1. Go to Recruiting > Candidates.

2. Select Add Filter > Background.

3. Choose a Background Element picklist.

4. Observe that:

   1. No values are displayed, or

   2. Values appear as blank entries.

• Special characters in picklist IDs. The affected picklist uses a picklist ID containing special characters (such as accented letters, symbols, or non‑ASCII characters). In the Candidate Search page, these characters may be processed differently, causing the system to send an incorrectly encoded ID to the picklist service.
  This results in a blank response, so no picklist values are shown.

• Missing picklist labels in the user’s active locale. Picklist options are not fully translated or do not contain labels for all active system locales. When the logged-in user selects a locale with missing labels, the picklist may show blank or empty options.

• Remove special characters from picklist IDs. In Picklist Center, ensure that the picklist ID and any related field identifiers contain only alphanumeric characters (A–Z, 0–9). Avoid special characters, accents, and symbols, as these may cause encoding issues specifically in the Candidate Search page.

• Maintain picklist labels for all active locales. Review the picklist in Picklist Center and verify that (i) Each option has a label maintained for every active locale used in the system; and (ii) No label is missing or left blank. Add or update translations as needed so that the picklist displays correctly for all users.

Both behaviors have been confirmed as expected by Engineering.
