3725103 - SAP Service and Asset Manager (SSAM): Resolving Mobile Assignment Issues and Performance Problems with Hybrid Work Order Assignment Types

Symptom

You are using SAP Service and Asset Manager and have configured Work Order Assignment Type 4 (Capacity Level / Operation Splits) for your maintenance processes. You experience the following issues:

  1. Technicians are unable to create new work orders or assign themselves to existing work order operations directly within the SAP Service and Asset Manager mobile application. The assignment functionality appears to be missing or non-functional for the user.
  2. As a workaround, you previously used Assignment Type 6 (Work Center). However, this resulted in severe performance degradation. Symptoms included:
    • Extremely long initial sync and delta sync times.
    • All users within the same work center would download the same, large set of work orders, including all related objects (Notifications, Equipment, Functional Locations, Classifications, Attachments, etc.).
    • When one user posted a confirmation or status update, it would trigger updates and potential conflicts for all other users who had the same work order on their device.

The goal is to allow mobile users to create and assign work on their devices while avoiding the performance issues associated with a work-center-level assignment.
