3725352 - BW Query Execution Takes Long Reading Packages from Database

Symptom

BW Query Execution takes long.
Transaction DBACOCKPIT -> Performance -> Thread shows a SQL like below that contains "UPPER".

SELECT … FROM "SAPHANADB"."<system ID>.<client>.<32 digits random looking string>" ORDER BY "K____XXX" ASC, "K____XXX" ASC, UPPER( "K____XXX" ) ASC, …
(XXX are numbers representing the characteristic SIDs)

Such a SQL is executed multiple times for reading multiple packages. Each time SQL execution takes relatively long e.g. a few seconds or even 10, 20 seconds.
With many packages, the Query execution takes a long time.
