Web Service trace has been activated. However, some message have 500 error state and the contents of these messages cannot be viewed in the Web Service Message Monitor.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Goto Administrator -> General Settings -> Web Service Message Monitoring
  2. Activate Web Service Message Trace by clicking on the 3 dots on the top tight-hand corner and Start Trace
  3. Reproduce the steps to create the Web Service Message
  4. When checking the  the message in WSMM, it has a 'HTTP Code: 500 ( Internal Server Error )' error.
  5. Click on View -> Payload. Only the response is shown here. There is a separate 'Response payload' option but it simply says 'No Payload available'

Cause

This is standard. Due to a technical limitation, when a synchronous web service message has a  'HTTP Code: 500 ( Internal Server Error )', the payload cannot be seen in the web service message monitor, even if the Web Service trace has been activated.

Resolution

In such cases the payload can only be viewed in CPI.
