3725695 - Unable to Add Custom Field to SOAP API "Billing Document - Create with SD Document Reference"

Symptom

A custom field was created with business context "Sales: Billing Document", but SOAP API "Billing Document - Create with SD Document Reference" is not available for enablement.

Environment

SAP S/4 HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the "Custom Fields" app.
  2. Select the custom field with business context "Sales: Billing Document", open it.
  3. Navigate to the "SOAP APIs" tab.
  4. Verify that the service interface "BDwReferenceRequest_In" is not listed as an available operation for the custom field.

Cause

The standard SOAP API "Billing Document - Create with SD Document Reference" (operation: BDwReferenceRequest_In) does not support custom field extensibility.

Resolution

Use another SOAP API "Billing Document - Create" (operation: BillingDocumentRequest_In), which supports custom field extensibility.
