Posting to the asset results in error Asset &2-&3, CoCode &4: Error when reading values for fiscal year &1

This error can be raised in the postings app or the migration cockpit. 

When a new asset master record is created, the system creates a year segment (i.e. a data segment for a fiscal year) for all depreciation areas, including the derived depreciation areas. The system creates year segments for all fiscal years that are open at that point in time.

New year segments are automatically created when a new fiscal year is opened.

The error occurs when you try to post to that asset in a reopened previous year where no year segment is available.

Example: When you create a new asset master record in fiscal year YYYY, the system creates the corresponding year segment for YYYY. You then reopen fiscal year YYYY-1, and with that, two fiscal years are open. But for YYYY-1, no year segment for the asset exists.

The segments can only be added when creating the asset, meaning you cannot post to that asset for that fiscal year.
