3726480 - Display of "Previously" Option in New Background Element Record Entry

• When an entry is added for the first time in a background element the option “Previously” already appears.
• For other background elements, the “Previously” option only appears when editing an entry that has already been added.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

1. Add an entry for the first time in a background element that has a cascading picklist configured
2. Observe that the option “Previously” already appears
3. Compare this behavior with other background elements, where the “Previously” option only appears when editing an entry that has already been added

• The issue occurs because the fields configured in the affected background element are cascading picklists, as per KBA 2955483 - Using Cascading Picklists on Background Elements - SAP for Me.
• These picklists incorrectly display the "Previously" option when creating a new entry instead of only when editing an existing record.

• Engineering have confirmed a fix for the issue. 
• Scheduled for release on: 13-Apr-2026 for Preview systems. 15-May-2026 for Production systems.
