Symptom
In SAP Datasphere, when editing a package the option “Modify Content” is available. This option cannot be disabled and allows users to modify the package.
Customers may look for a way to:
- Disable the “Modify Content” option
- Control the option through roles or authorizations
- Lock a package after it has been exported
- Force the creation of a new version when a package is re-exported
However, these controls cannot be configured in SAP Datasphere.
Environment
SAP Datasphere
Cause
The “Modify Content” option is part of the standard package export functionality in SAP Datasphere.
Currently:
- The option cannot be controlled through roles or privileges
- There is no mechanism to lock a package after export
- SAP Datasphere does not automatically enforce version creation when a package is re-exported
Resolution
This behavior is by design.
Currently, the only authorization control available for package export and modification is through the Lifecycle Management role, which determines which users are allowed to manage package exports.
If additional controls are required (for example disabling the Modify Content option, locking packages after export, or enforcing version creation), this functionality is not available in the current product version.
