Symptom

Goods receipt is still possible to post through Post Goods Movement for a partial delivery even after Delivery Completed indicator is set on the purchase order. 

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Purchase Order (PO) in  "Create Purchase Order" app;
  2. Go to the app "Post Goods Movement".
  3. Enter the PO number;
  4. Post a goods receipt with a partial quantity;
  5. Reload the page;
  6. Enter the PO number;
  7. Post a goods receipt with the remaining quantity;
  8. It does allow to post a Goods Receipt.

Cause

In "Post Goods Movement", a goods receipt can be posted for a partial quantity even if the "Delivery Completed" indicator is set Then the system will allow an additional goods receipt for the remaining quantity. This behavior is standard, as vendors may deliver additional quantities after the delivery was initially considered complete.

Resolution

To avoid further GRs for a given PO item, follow the below recommendations:

  • Reduce the purchase order quantity to the previous GR quantity.
  • Block the purchase order item.
  • Fill the date field for the "Latest Possible Goods Receipt" in the purchase order item. After doing this, entering a GR document after this date, the system issues message M7163.
