Symptom

This article describes the recommendation logic for Learning in the Learn New Skills section in Opportunity Marketplace, and the Opportunities to Grow and Advance My Proficiency sections in Growth Portfolio.

Resolution

In Talent products, Learning opportunities are offered using different logic, based on data or user being accessed in the UI.

In the Learn New Skills section in Opportunity Marketplace and Opportunities to Grow section in Growth Portfolio, users can discover three different recommendation types for learning content:

  • Admin Recommendations: recommended through Assignment Profiles and identified by the label of Recommended by Learning Team.
  • Peer Recommendations: recommended by peers and identified by the label that indicates who recommend it.
  • Personalized Recommendations: based on machine learning algorithms, only learning items that help users improve the proficiency level of their skills are recommended, by using history data of all employees and completions for optional courses (not a required learning item).

As for the Advance My Proficiency section in Growth Portfolio, users can explore learning suggestions for the attribute. In this section only Learnings associated to the given attribute will be suggested.The learning suggestions vary based on the current proficiency level for the attribute. The learning suggestions for the next higher proficiency level for the attribute appear first, followed by the suggestions for the current proficiency level.

Therefore, the Learning suggestions in the Learn New Skills and Opportunities to Grow sections follow a different recommendation logic than the Advance My Proficiency section. Not following the linkage of attributes to Learnings.
