3727866 - Model-Level Calculations Take Precedence Over Story-Level Restricted Accounts in SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

  • In an SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) story, when a Restricted Account (Selection) is used together with a model-level calculated measure, the calculation result does not reflect the restricted selection defined in the story.
  • Instead, the value is computed based solely on the logic defined in the model-level formula.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a model-level calculated measure named Model_IF_Measure in the Universal Account Model with the following formula:
    IF([Budget] > 0, [Budget] * 1.1, 0)
  2. Create a Story using this model and insert a Table or Chart.
  3. Define a Restricted Account (Selection) at the story level:

    • At the intersection of Restricted_Account and Model_IF_Measure:
      • The formula
        IF([Budget] > 0, [Budget] * 1.1, 0)
        is evaluated using Budget = 500
      • The story-level restriction to Sales – Product A (400) is not applied to the formula logic
      • Result:
        IF(500 > 0, 500 × 1.1, 0) = 550

Resolution

  • This is the expected and intended system behaviour.

    • A Restricted Account (Selection)  cannot override or influence the logic of a model-level calculated measure
    • Same concept applies within the story between primary vs secondary calculations(Cross calculation) for non-Universal Account Models.
